Drama Manga Gunjo By Ching Nakamura Gets Live-action Adaptation on Netflix in Spring 2021

The lesbian manga Gunjo by Ching Nakamura will be adapted for a live-action drama. It will be a Netflix original anime and will be going to release in 2021. The title of which is Konoja which means She.



The main lead characters will be played by Kiko Mizuhara, who played the role of Mikasa in the Attack on Titan. And another one is Honami Sato, who is the drummer in the Japanese rock band- Gesu no Kiwami Otome. Both of them are female lead characters.


Gunjo at first serialized from 2007 to 2009 in Kodansha’s morning. Then after some time in around 2010, it changed to Shogakukan’s monthly IKKI. And it published there till 2012. And about 3 total tankobon volumes are release by Shogakukan.

Gunjo by Ching Nakamura- The plot of the adaptation will depict the road journey or a Woman who killed a man. And a woman who made her kill the man. And the love will be between them. That will never be fulfilled. Rei Nagasawas as Mizuhara. She is homosexual. And the other one is Nanae Shinoda as Sato, she suffers domestic violence from her husband. Rei loves Nanae since their high school days. And she killed her husband for her. Nanae feels alienated and scared of Rei. As she committed murder for her. But on the other hand, Rei accepts everything in order to keep Nanae alive. Both of them want to love. But they also have disconnected feelings for each other.

Ryuichi Hiroki, who previously worked on several live-action film adaptations of the popular shoujo manga series, including Strobe Edge (2015) is attached to direct.

Release Date

It is all set to make a release in Spring 2021. And you can watch it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu after the release. Also, you can watch with English subtitles and dubs later a week or two.
