Gutara Mama manga – Mitsutoshi Furuya is a Japanese manga artist. He started his career in manga series with Kashi-hon manga series in 1955. Later on he worked as an assistant of Osama Tezuka in 1958. Primarily known for starting out as an assistant of Fujio Akatsuka five years later. Mitsutoshi is best known for his Dame Oyaji. It gained views by giving a darkly humorous send up of Japanese meet and greet. His one of the selected works include Gutara Mama. It was published in April 1971 and ended in july 1971. Later on a separated edition in Shonen magazine turns out to be a better version.
Gutara Mama ended?
Gutara Mama means slacker mother. It is based on a mothr’s life. It was earlier published 45 years back. And Mitsutoshi Furuya ended the manga serialization on Sunday after successful 45 years.
Gutara Mama is a comedy series. The plot of it revolves around a family. The family includes three members:
- Tarako Guyama, who is a lazy slacker mother
- Gusuo Guyama, an elementary school student
- Ichiro Guyama, The father of Gusuo Guyama who picks up the slacker mother
The manga has been running in The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper’s Sunday supplement paper Nichiyō Club since April 1975 and has been collected into four volumes. The paper is planning a fifth compiled book volume. The manga inspired a live-action television series adaptation in 1983.
Furuya’s Dame Oyaji manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 1974.Apart from Gutara Mama, Furuya’s Dame Oyaji is another masterpiece. It was also serialized in 1970 and still did not ended. For those who are not happy to here about that Dame Oyaji is still working on. Dame Oyaji is the story of Damesuke Amano, a hapless office worker who faces a tremendous amount of bullying on the job and especially at home, where he has (contrary to traditional Japanese notions of family) absolutely no power or say in the runnings of the household whatsoever.
