Amazon India told that it has been added around 10 new warehouses and so also expanded around seven existing buildings, that ahead of the upcoming Prime Day sale which is on Thursday.
Those new fulfillment centers would be set up in Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Patna, Ludhiana, and also Ahmedabad, as a statement told as well. Unlike traditional warehouses, the fulfillment centers are simply equipped with a highly automated pick, pack, and so also shipping processes to facilitate safe and even timely processing of the orders.
The company although did not give details about the expansion of the around seven existing buildings and the investment made. With this expansion, Amazon India has more than around 60 fulfillment centers (i.e. FCs) in around of 15 states with a total storage of the capacity of over around of 32 million the cubic feet and so also which includes the literal specialized network of the FCs for large appliances and so also the furniture category as well as the Receive Centres, as it mentioned already. Receive Centres are the product collection points whereas sellers ship their products for further the distribution around the Amazon FC network in India as well.
Besides that, Amazon India’s fulfillment network which could be spread around a floor area of more than around 8 million of the square feet that is clearly about more than the land size of around 100 football fields, that housing millions of items as well. Additionally, The increase in the storage capacity that is in the line with an Amazon’s long-term commitment to invest in India, as Amazon India the Vice President Customer Fulfilment Operations (i.e. Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe, and North Africa and Latin America) Akhil Saxena told.
“We ideally look forward to creating many thousands of job opportunities with competitive pay as well. Our investment in the infrastructure and so also technology is to provide sellers with the closest access to Amazon’s fulfillment offerings, and also the customers with so faster delivery on a greater selection of the products, and so also the help and ancillary businesses such as the packaging, the transportation, and also the logistics,” as he added as well.
The new more facilities which would be operational as before the festive season, that enabling the clients to stay safe and stay home and so also they quietly get deliveries at their doorstep, as the company stated as well. Additionally, Amazon would hold its Prime Day Sale in India on August 6 to 7.
The sale would likely see over around 300 new products that launch from the top brands such as Samsung, Prestige, Jabra, Microsoft Xbox, Adidas, Xiaomi, Fabindia, Dabur, Voltas, Godrej, and Boat, among others and so on. Various Indian brands and so also the local store owners from the programs such as karigar, saheli, launchpad, and so also the local shops would participate as well.
