India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh will visit Ladakh on Friday. This visit is scheduled to check and work upon the country’s prepration in regards with the border tensions with the Chinese army. He is expected to hold high level meetings involving senior military leadership as well.
From the last seven weeks, Indian and Chinese relations aren’t very peaceful these days and armies are involved in trivials in several location in eastern Ladakh. The tension levels incremented after 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a standoff on June 15 in Galwan Valley. The Chinese army also faced the casualties but still hasn’t declared anything publically.
Both the countries have been trying to reach out to a peaceful mutual agreement with step wise de-escalation of the uneasiness at the borders after the commander level meetings held on Tuesday, which nearly lasted for 12 hours. Rajnath Singh As per the reports, this was in line with the telephonic deliberation held between India’s external affairs minister, S. jaishankar and Wang Yi, his Chinese counterpart.
Rajnath Singh – This visit is scheduled a week after MM Naravane Army Chief of staff General went to the place. On June 23-24 he visited Ladakh he presented Commendation cards to 5 army soldiers. These were awarded for showing indefatigable courage and intrepidity in clashes in Galwan Valley and Pangong Lane with the Chinese army. Before this, RKS Bhadauria, Air chief also visited Srinagar and Ladakh with the purpose of taking a stock of Indian Air force’s preparedness.
