The OA is an American web television series with sci-fi, supernatural, and fantasy elements. It is created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. Zal Batmanglij, the co-creator and an executive producer of the series, is the director of every episode. It received 77% ratings for part 1 and 92% ratings for part 2 on Rotten Tomatoes. It premiered on Netflix on 16 December, 20, and the second part was released on March 27, 2019. Creators were planning to release five seasons but on August 5, 2019, Netflix canceled the series after two seasons, leaving the show with a cliffhanger ending. It left its creators devastated.
“Zal and I are deeply sad not to finish this story. The first time I heard the news, I had a good cry,” Marling said.
Will there be a Part-3?
Netflix might have no strategies for renewing the series for next seasons but creators are trying to convince Netflix to renew the show. So there is a ray of hope that we may get to see part 3.
The reason behind canceling OA’s renewal was its low viewers. But the show may get a revival on a new platform, if not Netflix.
The Cast of ‘The OA‘
The show stars Brit Marling as the lead character Prairie Johnson. The supporting cast of the show includes Jason Isaac as Hunter Aloysins, Emory Cohen as Homer Roberts, Phyllis Smith as Betty, Scott Wilson as Abel Johnson, Alice Kroge as Nancy Johnson, Ian Alexander as Buch Vu and many more from the previous part may be returning in the new season.
What will happen in part 3?
The story revolves around a girl named ‘Prairie Johnson’ who was missing and suddenly reappears from nowhere after seven years. She calls herself ‘The OA’ and can see, despite having blind before the disappearance. Everyone is shocked that she is no longer blind.
We have no details about what will happen next.
Isaacs added: “It’s not like The Fast and the Furious. You don’t add a couple more cars. It’s likely to be something entirely different.
