On Wednesday, the Union MoS of Railways Suresh Channabasappa Angadi passed away at the age of 65 due to the coronavirus disease. He counted his last breath in AIIMS Delhi. He was Hospitalised from since September.
About Suresh Angadi
Suresh Angadi was a Lok Sabha member from Belgaum, Karnataka. He was an educationist, who came from the Lingayat community. Prime Minister and other leaders laid down their tributes to Angadi.
PM took it to twitter and said: “Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti”
Suresh Angadi was one among several ministers who were tested positive for deadly Coronavirus including Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Shripad Naik, Dharmendra Pradhan, Kailash Choudhary, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Shekhawat.
Union Minister Angadi was tested positive for Covid-19 on September 11. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote “Deeply saddened by the demise of Rail Rajya Mantri, Shri Suresh Angadiji. He was a good administrator, seasoned Parliamentarian, and blessed with a warm and affable personality.”
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh expressed their grief and said he is pained at hearing the sad news.
Suresh Angadi and Karnataka railways
Suresh Angadi joined as the Union minister of state for railways in May 2019. During his period he launched over 20 new train services. He also worked in the field of extending Karnataka’s existing railways system.
The also got the green signal from the railway board to sanction the railway line running between Belagavi and Dharwad via Kittur. He also launched Kisan rail running from Bengaluru to Hazrat Nizammudin station. He also helped in the introduction of the roll-on roll-off (RORO) train from Nelamangala to Solapur. Thus, Suresh Angadi’s death is a huge loss to Karnataka railways.
