After being in our lives and ruling our hearts for an action-packed decade as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. had a hard time getting a friendly reception from fans as somebody else. Not every character is as lucky as Sherlock Holmes. (We can’t wait for the third movie, by the way). The legendary actor’s 2020 movie Dolittle was bombarded with negative feedback and currently has a rating of a mere 14% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Is RDJ back with another show?
The king is back with yet another show to stream. Well, sort of. Team Downey, the film production company founded by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, apparently has something in works with Apple TV+, a television network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show has received a “straight-to-series order from the streaming service.” It is supposedly about a Canadian policeman who assigns himself to a cold case and attempts an undercover sting operation, only to have things hit the ceiling and shoot up to the sky. Add into the recipe some fake cops, tax-payer resources, and an unexpected friendship, and you have with yourself a brand new show! It is originally based on Michael Lista’s Toronto Life article called ‘The Sting’.
The 55-year old actor will be the executive producer of the show along with his spouse Susan Downey. Michael Lista will act as the co-executive producer. We can’t wait! Neither the show has been named, nor a lead role has been confirmed or announced acutely yet. But we expect Robert to at least play a supporting character.
Team Downey’s latest production is HBO‘s Perry Mason, an American crime drama with impressive reviews. We are positive that this one will prove to be even better. Until then, we love you 3000, Robert.
