Bat Woman Season 2 Episode 5 Release Date

Javicia Leslie (“God Friended Me”) dons the cowl as Ryan Wilder and becomes Gotham’s new defender in “Batwoman” which returns for its second season Sunday, January 17, 2021 (8:00–9:00pm ET/PT) on The CW. Photo by Nino Muñoz.

There is such a thing as doing too much, and Bat woman is on the cusp. The last two episodes have introduced two new characters, Angelique and Ocean. Batwoman has been steadily building Ryan Wilder’s backstory. As she embraces her role as Gotham’s new hero, and her last week’s episode threw a new element of that backstory into her mix. Her relationship with her ex-GF, Bevin Angelique Martin. The episode closed on two of them reuniting.

Bat woman: Promo of the week:

The promo for this week’s installment, “Gore on Canvas”, sees Angelique pay back to Ryan. Whether Ryan will take her up on the offer is the question the series needs to answer. Unfortunately, the promo then segues to Ryan’s relationship with other major characters from the show.

One-shot from the teaser sees our Batwoman telling Sophie that she’s not looking for a partner. A new message that probably stems from the antagonistic history the two have with one another. The promo also shows Ryan passionately telling Luke that she can’t “keep working for his approval”, and honestly, it’s about time.

Gore on Canvas:

“Gore on Canvas” also looks to answer questions presented last week, namely who the mysterious man Alice remembered from her time with Safiyah is.

The promo sees her tracking him down, but whether that will actually help her uncover her memories or locate Kate is another story. Batwoman is not pulling on any of its “weakness” and it doesn’t feel disingenuous that social themes like racism, classism, and distrust in government & law enforcement are being explored.

Batwoman is doing a solid job of managing its characters and weaving their individual stories together in meaningful ways. Once again, Batwoman appears to be firing on all fronts this week, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
