Biz Markie Dead at 57: The ‘Just a friend’ rapper has passed away

Biz Markie was one of those who had made his presence failed. He is known for his hit song “Just a friend’. This is one of those songs which has been sampled a number of times with other artists. Recently, it has been revealed that this great voice has died from complications related to diabetes. He was 57 years old.


Biz Markie: The making of a legend

The entertainment outlet TMZ had managed to break out with its story with the news. But, it was several days before, when people had been making assumptions that the rapper was no more. When the rumours surrounding the same were floating around, the manager came out and said that it was not true. Although, he later confirmed that the rapper was ill at the time.

His real name was Marcel Theo Hall and he was born in April, 1967 in the city of Harlem, NY. Thereafter, he had adopted the stage name Biz Markie. He had first started his career in the nightclubs in New York but later expanded his presence to colleges.

During his career which spanned about 35 years, he had worked as a DJ, producer, rapper, actor, comedian writer. His first album was called Goin’ Off which came out in the year 1988.

He had also appeared in a number of TV shows over the years. It has also been revealed that he guest starred in an episode of Spongebob Squarepants.
