Captain Marvel 2: No one knows if and when Avengers 5 will drop in theatres. One thing is for sure, though. We are getting a sequel to the 2019 Captain Marvel. It will be the second film starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. According to The Direct, the sequel is going to be a “Mini-Avengers Film”. Wait, does that mean we will get to see our favorite superheroes again? We have no idea.
Brie Larson worried about being overshadowed?
Apparently, the star actress has raised concerns in front of Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, that she might be overshadowed in Captain Marvel 2, in view of all the plot-wise events and all the prominent characters that are set to participate in the movie. In other words, she wants to make it clear that it’s HER movie and mark her claim. It may have to do with the fact that Monica Rambeau, another superheroine in the popular Marvel Comics, will probably make an appearance in the movie, and may end up taking away her spotlight.
Sounds crazy, right? Word has it that Candyman’s Nia DaCosta has been hired as the new director for the series. Captain Marvel was the first film by Marvel Cinematic Universe which had a solo female superheroine. Yay, #GirlPower. The sequel will also introduce Ms. Marvel, a group name for several superheroines getting their own show with Disney+. Megan McDonnell is writing the sequel. She is also a writer at Marvel’s show WandaVision on Disney+.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Captain Marvel 2 is expected to have a release date in 2022. Again, there is no saying about how the pandemic will affect its production, shooting and release. I know for a fact that a Marvel movie without a theatrical release will lose its charm- little laptop screens with Netflix and Disney+ will not give the audience those goosebumps that they usually get at a cinema.
