The sudden change of the casting happened, because of the allegations that surfaced against Chris D’Elia regarding his sexual misconduct with 16-year-old minor women. D’Elia completely denied the allegations against him and stated that he never intentionally or forcefully pursued any minor woman at any point in time. However, this act induced the makers of the film to drop him as a cast and also his agency CAA to remove him as a client. Moreover, Netflix too canceled a show featuring D’ Elia and Bryan Cullen as a lead.

Netflix confirmed that ‘Army of the dead‘ reshooting is scheduled and will begin soon. Tig Notaro is expected to reshoot the scenes of the film with an acting partner against a green screen, CGI will be used to insert her appearance into the film.

However, Chris D’Elia yet has not made any official statement regarding his replacement in the ‘Army of the dead’ or the cancellation of his Netflix show.
