Army of the dead: It is an upcoming American Zombie film. It is directed by Zack Synder. The film is produced by Deborah Synder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Synder. It will be distributed as Netflix Original film, exclusively for Netflix. This film would be Zack Synder’s comeback after his last movie Justice League, which released in 2017.
The principal photography of the film wrapped up in October 2019. But, there is shocking news out that Netflix’s zombie movie ‘Army of the dead’ will have to undertake to reshoot the movie as the film’s former star Chris D’Elia has been replaced by Comedian Tig Notaro. Tig Notaro is joining the cast that includes Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Theo Rossi, Ella Purnell, and Dave Bautista.
According to the sources, the Army of the dead had completed its shooting pre-pandemic in March 2020. It was undergoing the post-production phase.
The sudden change of the casting happened, because of the allegations that surfaced against Chris D’Elia regarding his sexual misconduct with 16-year-old minor women. D’Elia completely denied the allegations against him and stated that he never intentionally or forcefully pursued any minor woman at any point in time. However, this act induced the makers of the film to drop him as a cast and also his agency CAA to remove him as a client. Moreover, Netflix too canceled a show featuring D’ Elia and Bryan Cullen as a lead.
Netflix confirmed that ‘Army of the dead‘ reshooting is scheduled and will begin soon. Tig Notaro is expected to reshoot the scenes of the film with an acting partner against a green screen, CGI will be used to insert her appearance into the film.
However, Chris D’Elia yet has not made any official statement regarding his replacement in the ‘Army of the dead’ or the cancellation of his Netflix show.
