Dirty John Season 3: This is a true crime anthology series that is based on the podcast of the same name by Christopher Goffard. The series created by Alexandra Cunningham garnered positive responses from critics and managed to get recognition at various award ceremonies.
The second season premiered on June 2, 2020, and wrapped up with a twist-filled season. As of now, Dirty John has focused on housewife-turned-murderer Betty Broderick and a constant John Meehan.
But now fans are left wondering whether there will be a third installment of the crime anthology series. So here’s everything we know so far about Dirty John Season 3.
The third season of Dirty John hasn’t been renewed yet
Right now, it’s unclear whether Dirty John will be coming back for a third chapter. The reviews for the show’s second season had been strong, but despite this, there’s been little news about its future.
So there’s no way of predicting the release date without any confirmation. Also, as the TV and film productions have been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so this could add to the delay of season 3’s filming schedule. Till then, you can catch up on the past seasons on Netflix.
Season 3 will also tell its own story along with a brand new cast
As we know that the show is an anthology series. So each season stands alone. The first two seasons followed true crime stories involving a pair of real-time couples. The couples were Debra Newell and John Meehan in the first, while Betty and Dan Broderick in the second.
All of the Dirty John’s seasons are United under a common theme – Love gone wrong. So season 3 will most likely feature a very different true-crime story just like season 1 and 2.
The creator of the show Alexandra Cunningham has expressed that she wants to leave the West Coast as both the seasons have taken place in California. Also, we can expect the theme of romantic relationships that defined the first two seasons to be shifted towards the family unit.
