Dubai: Expat Artist says she never intentionally violated Covid 19 rules at her birthday celebration

Dubai: Arab artist Mariam Hussain who was caught for violating the COVID 19 rules at her birthday celebration, said that she never intended to violate the precautionary measures. The restaurant management service served her a birthday cake out of the courtesy and people gathered to take pictures with her.

Mariam never organized a birthday party

She claims that she never organized any birthday party in any restaurant and spend it in her home as she follows as the precautionary measures of COVID 19.

Hussain said, “I didn’t wish to violate the precautionary guidelines. I went for dinner with my mother, a relative, and a friend. The restaurant management service served us a cake out of the courtesy. Then, people came to take pictures with me.”

“However, I might make a mistake for allowing my fans to be close to me while taking pictures. But I felt embarrassed to say no to them. It won’t happen in the future again.”

Hussain told Dubai Police, her side of the story, and asked them to check the surveillance cameras to confirm the same.

Dubai police arrested and asked questions to the artist

On Sunday, Dubai police have announced that they arrested an Arab artist for celebrating her birthday in two different restaurants and failing to follow the appropriate Precautionary measures such as maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.

Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police said that the Arab artist posted her videos of birthday celebrations on her Snapchat account. The videos clearly show that no COVID 19 safety measures were followed during the celebration. No one kept proper social distancing and worn face masks.

According to the police, the artist violated Resolution No. 38 of 2020 issued by the UAE’s Attorney General on enforcement of penalties for violations following Cabinet Resolution No. 17 of 2020 to control the spread of COVID-19.

Hussain’s Lawyer statement

The lawyer of Mariam Hussain, Mohammad Al Najar said that Dubai police called him to summon Mariam Hussain to the police station where she was questioned for long three hours. According to him, she provided her statement. Police questioned her and check the surveillance cameras. Hussain provided evidence that she didn’t organize the party and all that happened was sudden.
