If you have been waiting to watch the animated movie Connected, then sadly you would have to wait for a much longer period. The film was earlier slated to release on October 23.

The film is produced by Sony. Originally titled as The Mitchells VS the Machines; this movie was supposed to be Sony’s biggest release this year.

The story is revolved around a young girl Katie Mitchell (played by Abbi Jacobson) who gets in her dream film school. The whole family decides to drop off her to school. But the plan goes astray as a tech uprising begins during the trip. Now the Mitchells decide to save the whole world.

Produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord the film has caught the audience’s eye before its release. It is because the director and writer duo have created great works of animation before. They have written and directed The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and were deeply involved in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The film is directed by Michael Rianda and co-directed by Jeff Rowe. The pair also wrote the screenplay for the film. Both of them were also the former writer of Disney’s Gravity Falls.

The Reason for Postponing the Release of Connected

Well for simplicity’s sake, the movie has indeed been postponed because of the coronavirus. But it has more to it.

Around 70% of theatres in the US have now been opened for weeks. However, the box office has been disappointing for the filmmakers.

Deadline reported that the makers of Connected saw Tenet’s and other films’ revenue without New York and Los Angeles theatres into factor. The megacities were the most lucrative sites for generating money from theatres.

Not only Connected, but The Wonder Woman 1984 has also pushed back its release date from October 2 to Christmas. STX’s Greenland and Universal/MGM’s Candyman have been moved from September 25 and October 16(in the same order) to announced dates next year.

The Connected makers were also worried about the fact that parents might not be comfortable in bringing their kids to the theatres.

Now October 23 would be a wide-open release date for Disney’s Death on the Nile; that of course if it also does not move its date.
