Gordon Green, McBride & MacFarlane Will Be Teaming Up For Smokey and the bandit series.

According to the reports, David Gordon Green who is currently working on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser for the TV screen is soon going to bring one more legendary franchise on TV in the form of action comedy ‘Smokey and The Bandit’.

All you need to know about the ‘Smokey and The Bandit‘

The new one will be adaptation of a 1977 Southern set classic and Gordon Green is collaborating with Brain Sides to rewrite the script of the movie. The duo are also set to executive produce along with Danny McBride, Jody Hill and Brandon James through their Rough House Pictures banner. While, Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door productions.

The project will star Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, which is explained as an epic family adventure, small town offences, heroes intertwined in legacy. The new movie is inspired from the 70s and 80s genre. The series follows crossroads and explores the larger than life incidents.

Gordon Green stated that, Growing up in Texas, Smokey and The Bandit was a legendary franchise for him and he is very excited to carry the legacy of those characters, which are filled with sass and swag.

Erica Huggins also added that : When UCP talked about ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ they were drawn into it the very next moment. They knew they had to remain loyal to its original plot set in the South and Gordon Green’s rapid interest and his distinctive vision and liking for the initial made this possible. The film was very cool and iconic at that time and they hope to achieve the same response in the show.

The film had two sequels along with a series for TV, which starred Brain Bloom as younger sort of the lead character.
