Artemis fowl is an American sci-fi film based on the novel with the same name written by Eoin Colfer. It is directed by Kenneth Branagh. This film was going to release on August 9, 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, the release date got stretched to June 12, 2020.It took 20 years for an “Artemis Fowl” movie to come out.
So for all those who have read these books and loved them thoroughly, you guys are awesome and should be thankful that you did that first. From our point of view, the movie was so far from the actual plot, this movie is a complete disaster to watch. The first thing that would offend the fans is the main character – Artemis fowl is portrayed in a very different way than people would have thought after reading the books. I feel bad for that small guy. If seems like as if someone has to feed him with another line after every line’s completion.
The worst part is that it has no storyline. Artemis fowl gets kidnapped and whoever kidnapped him has a secret incredible device, which gives all the ability and power everyone wants to get. Artemis Fowl 2 has to find this thing so that he can use it as a bargaining chip to get his dad back. Then there comes this underground world of fairies, that’s what the film is about, actually the film has no idea what it’s about.
First of all the movie spent way too much time explaining the world. The movie seemed like it couldn’t decide who the focus of the movie was and kept trying to switch directions every time the camera angle switched. Because of this over-explaining thing, they fall short of good character development. There wasn’t really enough time in any scene to develop relationships.
The only best scene in the movie was the scene when he’s talking with the therapist because that’s a scene from the book! For the most part, the visual effects are definitely worthy of a mainstream theatrical release, but they made the movie also feel more childish than the story really was.
To sum up, this is the top 10 worst Disney movies ever made. This is barely a movie. They have spoiled one of the best books. Terrible writing and editing succeeded in wasting the audience’s time. The worst book adaption ever. Such a boring and untidy story when the source material could have easily been turned into a beautiful one. This one gets the award for the most incoherent and awful movie.
