Scare me is a new horror movie streaming on Shudder. It is debuted this year only in Sundance Film Festival. Shudder is a horror-centric streaming service.
Josh Ruben who is well recognized for his College Humor videos, directed, wrote, and stars in Scare Me, playing Fred, an aspiring horror novelist who takes a trip into the secluded woods in an attempt to remove distractions and give himself an opportunity to write a book. As this clip reveals, he ends up coming face to face with successful horror author Fanny, played by Aya Cash, and jealous starts to creep into his psyche. When a power outage drives the two into the same cabin, they end up trying to scare each other by telling spooky stories…and things escalate from there.
The film got nice reviews out of Sundance. And received 84% rotten tomatoes but a 100% score by the audience.
Synopsis of the Movie
The story revolves around Fred known as Josh Ruben for college humor. He is a frustrated Copywriter who Checks in to start his very first novel. One morning while on a walk he met Fanny who is a successful young horror author. When there is an electricity cut Fred was challenged by Fanny to make up a scary story. Both of them tell stories but these spooky tales result in Fred’s ultimate fear, which is Fanny is a better storyteller than him. Now the expectations are even high as a horror fan visited them. He was Chris Redd. Josh Ruben’s debut is a metafictional horror-comedy. It is about the pleasures of storytelling It is a chilling hybrid of humor. SCARE ME ventures into darker territory, drawing dread and pathos from the gender hostilities driving Fanny and Fred’s game of ghost stories. Scare me is one of the movies to be watched on Halloween.
