Inspired by the original British documentary, the web series follows the story of a man who was convicted of committing homicide and also went to jail for it with a death row on his hands. Dale Wayne Sigler, who was sentenced to death in 1993, is now a free man. The documentary uncovers the truth behind the murder.
Thirty years ago, Dale Wayne Sigler committed a crime- a cold-blooded murder- for which he pleaded guilty and was imprisoned for it. But after spending nearly half of his life behind bars, he was given parole and allowed to return to the outside world and start a new life. He is put under the custody of Carol, his pen-pal from prison, and another important character in the story. Carol is 70 years old. As he tries to adjust to the outside world-the world outside prison-he acknowledges the decisions he took that made his life go spiral. He also reveals the reason why he committed the crime, which turns out to be seemingly different from what everyone originally thought. The docuseries was shot in Texas and took three years to get produced. In reality, Dale Sigler robbed a sandwich shop at gunpoint in the year 1990. When the shop assistant tried to hide in a room in the back, Sigler shot him six times. Then he took $400 and fled from the scene.
