If you are a one it’s crazy fans then imagine getting a chance to meet its stars and to be a part of the series. What would you do? Obviously, no-one would miss such a golden opportunity. But unfortunately, it doesn’t happen to everyone. Only a few are lucky to be a part of Star Wars.
This miracle happened with 501st Legion. Those who don’t know about this, it is a Star Wars fan group, who are costume enthusiasts and recreate Star Wars costumes and specifically Stormtrooper outfits. The 501st Legion was formed back in 1997 in South Colombia. It has 13000 members worldwide. They often seen at charity events and sometimes appeared at film premieres too.
During the final installment of The Mandalorian, creator Jon Favreau and producer Dave Filoni revealed that they brought in the 501st Legion as stormtroopers extras for the finale. This happened when both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were preparing the finale which comprised many stormtroopers. Initially, they wrote in 30 stormtroopers but later they thought to maximize the number of stormtroopers and their costumes. So they called in 501st Legion, thinking they might get help from them, and like any other fan, they were more than happy to be a part of this team. If you have seen the finale, you would know that they did full justice to their work.
They got to meet Carl Weathers and Gian Carlo Esposito on the set. This is really a dream come true moment for any Star Wars fan. Later they shared how happy and excited they were to be a part of this project. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau shared that the group was very surprised because they weren’t told what they have to do.
501st Legion is a group of really devoted and die-hard fans but they never been officially sponsored by Disney. So it is good that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni recognized their efforts and rewarded them by casting them in the finale.
