Katy Perry studio Album ‘Smile’: After the arrival of her daughter, Daisy, the American singer-songwriter Katy Perry has released her fifth studio album ‘SMILE’.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
The album ‘SMILE’ was released on August 28, 2020. Katy described the album as her own “journey towards the light, with stories of resilience, hope, and love”. ‘Smile’ is an interaction with self-help and empowerment.
Two singles from the album were released earlier this year. “Daises”, the lead single was dropped on May 15, 2020, and stood at number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. The next on the list is the title track “Smile”. This single was released on July 10, 2020.
Perry released “What Makes a Woman” as a promotional single ahead of the album on August 20, 2020. In June 2020, she revealed “What Makes a Woman” is dedicated to her unborn daughter, stating: “That is a hope I have for my future child, is that she doesn’t have any limits on any of her dreams, or what she wants to be, or who she thinks she is.”
THE DELAYED RELEASE
The album was scheduled to drop on August 14 this year but the pop star via Twitter confirmed the delay. Her tweet read, “Welp. I hate to throw this bad news at you like a pie in the face … but if there’s anything 2020 taught me, it’s to not get too attached to plans and be malleable,”.
“Due to unavoidable production delays, my album #SMILE will now be released weeks later on August 28,” she added.
THE SINGER’S EXPERIENCE
Katy Perry said, “I wrote this record during one of the darkest times of my life”. “Once I figured out there was a better way to look at life, I was seeing it with a different point of view.” She confessed, “This whole album is my journey toward the light — with stories of resilience, hope, and love,” she said.
The pop singer shared how she wrote “Smile” when she was emerging from a struggle of depression. She hopes that the album might help others in similar situations.
