Kevin Dobson star of ‘Kojak’ and ‘Knots Landing’ dies at 77

Kevin Dobson is an actor, well known and popular for his role as Mack in ‘Knots Landing’ and Detective Bobby Crocker in ‘Kojak’, died on Sunday 6th September, at the age of 77 in Stockton, California.


The news of his death was announced on the official Facebook page of San Joaquin County. Kevin was a former Army Officer and served as the chairman of the San Joaquin County group; recently on 4th July, he released a video of the virtual parade.

Kevin Dobson was born in Queens NewYork, on 18th March 1943. He was a conductor and baseball player and during the era of Vietnam, he worked as an MP. For his hospitality in the army, Kevin was honored with the awards: Silver Helmet Peace Award & The American Legion Award.

Later he got a break in acting through Jack Smight’s “Midway”. He also starred in ‘Kojak’ a TV program from the year 1973 to 1978 and also featured in the TV movie ‘Kojak’. Kevin was widely praised for his performance in Kojak as Detective Bobby Crocker.


Thereafter, Kevin starred in CBS’ famous acclaimed drama “Knots Landing” playing powerful attorney general Mack, he shared the screen with Michele Lee. Kevin Dobson received five soap opera digest awards for his role in the spin-off “Dallas”.

Kevin’s costars always appreciated him as a gracious and open-minded actor.

Kevin featured as Detective Leo McCarthy in F/X: The series, from the year 1996 to 1997. He also played Mickey Harton in ‘Days of our Lives’ in the year 2008.

In 1968, Kevin got married to producer Susan Dobson and the couple has three children from their marriage- sons Patrick and Sean, daughter Mariah.
