Mank – Release
Mank is an upcoming biographical movie by David Fincher that will be premiered on Netflix. The movie is all set to release this year during autumn. Netflix has not announced the official release of the movie because it usually it keeps the release dates under wrap until much closer to the dates. It is also possible for the date to be delayed because its post-production was underway when the global lockdown because of the virus was announced. No further updates were made regarding the release.
After creating some of the hit series like Mindhunter and World War Z, David Fincher finally turned his attention to create his passion movie – Mank. This is based on the screenplay by his own father, Jack Fincher prior to his death in 2003. Fincher said that this movie has always been his dream project.
Mank – Plot
The movie tells the true story behind the making of Citizen Kane, a 1941 American drama movie by Orsen Willes. It portrays the disputes between the screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and director Orsen Welles over the credits for the screenplay of the movie. A 120 page draft script of Mank reveals that Jack Fincher closely followed the claim voiced by Pauline Kael in 1971 New Yorker article “Raising Kane” that Welles did not deserve the screenwriting credit for the movie. The statement raised hot controversy among the film critics and scholars.
Mank – Cast
The movie stars Gary Oldman as Herman J. Mankiewicz which is the lead role, followed by Tom Burke acting as the director, Orson Welles. The plot revolves around the battles between these two characters. Other characters of the movie are Marion Davies played by Amanda Seyfried, Rita Alexander played by Lilly Collins, Sara Mankiewicz layed by Tuppence Middleton, and Joseph L. Mankiewicz played by Tom Pelphery. The co-star list includes Arliss Howard, Charles Dance, Ferdinand Kingsley, Jamie McShane, Joseph Cross, Sam Troughton, Toby Leonard Moore, Jeff Harms, and Leven Rambin.
