MGM Acquires Rights To Supernatural Comic Book Series Mercy Sparx

Reportedly, MGM has obtained screening rights to the female driven comic book Mercy Sparx. The script of the book is written by Nick Shafir. It is produced by The Picture Company and Assemble Media.

The plot follows Mercy Sparx, who is a female demon arrived from Hell to Earth to accomplish a special mission, appointed to her at the same she must hide the mission from humans. When Mercy arrives on Earth she incidentally starts to identify the gray area between good and bad. This forces her to select the place within it by compromising her mission to Earth.


The script of this comic book is inspired from a female driven Constantine, which starred Keanu Reeves many years ago.

The comic book is developed by Josh Blaylock and it has turned to be the most popular among fans ever since its debut via Devil’s Due Publishing and the studio views this as a franchise having an empowering female lead character is the centre of attraction.

Mercy Sparx

Jack Heller is serving as producer along with The Picture Company partners Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona. The developer of the comic book Josh Blaylock will executively produce together with Scott Veltri. Jack Heller and Assemble media created the script and acquired the rights to the work and later collaborated with The Picture Company.

Elishia Holmes and Sandino Moya-Smith of MGM will manage the project for the studio.

The Picture Company currently finished production on thriller ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’, starring Karen Gillan and it is distributed by STX. The company is also producing a horror movie by Amblin Partner, ‘Come Play’ which will release next month in theatres.
