Over The Moon: While Disney+Hotstar is busy with the eventful release of Sadak 2, Netflix is coming up with its next big animated movie called Over the Moon. It is a musical variation of a classic Chinese myth, and the film follows Fei Fei, a young girl who builds her own rocket ship to travel to the moon.
Fei Fei’s parents filled her childhood with stories of a goddess named Chang’e who lives on the moon. Years later, long after her mother’s demise, when Fei Fei is still not comfortable with the idea of having a stepmom and a stepbrother, she plans the long-awaited trip from her childhood dreams to the not so faraway planet moon to meet the Goddess which her mother used to talk about.
The film is directed by the Oscar-winning director Glen Keane, who is such a legendary animator that there’s not even a 1% chance that you have not seen his work. He has brought to life our favorite characters like The Little Mermaid, Aladin, characters of Beauty and the Beast, and of course, Tarzan.
To hype up the release of the film, the producers have recently released a music video from the film called Rocket to the Moon, which is one of the soundtracks from the movie. It gives us the first glimpse into how the music is going to be in the animated movie.
Helen Park, Christopher Curtis, and lyricist Marjorie Duffield worked together for two weeks in Los Angeles writing the songs.
The cast includes Cathy Ang as Fei Fei, Phillipa Soo as Chang’e, Robert G. Chiu as Chin, John Cho as her Dad, Ruthie Ann Miles as Mom, Margaret Cho as Auntie Ling, Kimiko Glenn as Auntie Mei, and Sandra Oh as Mrs. Zhong.
The film will release on 23 October 2020 on Netflix.
