Along with all the events that Ninantic is jumping in the game over the next few weeks, a new batch of Field Research tasks that will be live offering you an opportunity to claim a new Research Breakthrough reward.
Unlike the Special Research missions that were assigned by Professor Willow, Filed Research tasks are distributed via PokeStops. These can run the gamut from catching different types of Pokémon in order to win a Raid, and you will claim various rewards for completing them, consisting of berries, Poke Balls and even Pokémon encounters.
The first Field Research task that you will complete each day will give you a stamp. If you succeed to do seven of these, then you will gain a Research Breakthrough, which will unlock some more rewards for you along with a chance to catch a special Pokémon. The Research Breakthrough for this month is Trapinch, a Ground type and the first form of Flygon. You will also receive a bonus Trapinch Candy as a reward of capturing it.
Trapinch will be available this month only as a Research Breakthrough reward. So if you are interested in capturing one, then you will have to achieve a Research Breakthrough before 1st July, when Niantich will refresh its Field Research tasks again.
