Lucifer season 6: Lucifer’s sixth season will be shorter than fans expected, with just eight episodes. We know goodbyes should be short and sweet, but this news is bittersweet. Lucifer season 6 will only have eight episodes.
UPDATE: Lucifer season 6 will be, according to D.B. Woodside, actually includes ten episodes.
Sweet because we’re still very excited that Lucifer has at least one more season after fans won’t let the hype ends. But bitter, because we expected at least ten episodes. It seems that Tom Ellis thought there would be a final 10-episode season.
The Lucifer actor said there was enough story for a “final 10-episode season.”
Now TV Line is reporting that we are in for a shorter season than expected! So what happened? Well, a couple of things!
Here’s why Lucifer season 6 will only have eight episodes
Two big things here, Lucifans: the unexpected renewal of the sixth season and the COVID-19 outbreak.
Showrunners and screenwriters have already talked about how excited they are to have more episodes and work on them, but they haven’t seen a new season change after Netflix previously announced. This fifth season would be the last.
It even took them a few days to think about whether or not to accept Netflix’s offer. They finally agreed and planned accordingly. But, understandably, they don’t want to make the story too long.
Why drag it when you can give it a fantastic ending? Another thing that prevents more episodes could be the COVID-19 outbreak.
Production of Lucifer will resume on Thursday, September 24, which has set things back. Overall, a final season with eight episodes is not bad! I can’t wait for each character to get and finish the story they deserve.
Not a word on when Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 is expected to premiere in early 2021. We will keep you posted.
While you wait, check out all the Lucifer episodes available on Netflix.
