HL spoke to Jessica Goldberg about her dream of being an astronaut and what brings authenticity to a space drama:
What did Jessica Goldberg say about space drama?
HollywoodLife talked with Jessica Goldberg about tackling a space drama. The showrunner Jessica told about her dream of being an astronaut. When Jessica was playing the role of Emma, the team, as well as herself, knew that Hilary had the mental discipline as well as the physical discipline to be an astronaut. She further told about the intense training for the Away astronauts. Also, she mentioned how she worked with a real-life astronaut to make this story feel as real one.
Jessica Goldberg has worked on a number of different shows like The Path and Parenthood. She was asked Why she wanted to tackle a space drama. To this, she replied that there were two things that drew her into the show. The first being that it’s such a divisive time. Even over a year ago, when she first got involved with the project it was — and it’s even more so now. She further added that It felt like such a positive thing to work at the existing time. And then the second reason she told was that it was like the ultimate working mom’s show. Jessica is a single mom to her daughter who just turned 13. She felt like she had never really gotten to see that story articulated with someone who loves their work, they love their child, they love their family, and just all the complications of that. So for her, that was a really personal way into the show.
