Plot of Season 2 of State of the Union

Clark’s wife Ellen is described as “traditional, self-made, and liberal campaigning.” To put it another way, she now has the language and resources to figure out who she is in 2022, whereas he feels as if the world is passing him by.

In the first episode, Nick Hornby (the series’ creator) appears to be studying the language of 2022. There isn’t much more to say about the Baby Boomer generation’s pronoun and pussyhat issues (literally). While weighing 30 years of marriage and baggage, Scott and Ellen explore the benefits and drawbacks of divorce atop a Connecticut hipster coffee shop.

Hornby’s writing is still razor-sharp, as he proved in the first season, but even the greatest minds may fall into generational traps. In 2019, the first season won three Emmys, including Outstanding Short Form Comedy and Drama Series.

Despite the fact that the second season lacks the first’s evident charm and wit, Gleeson and Clarkson’s performances are outstanding. The show is also available to watch on fuboTV for fans.
