Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the creator of this Netflix Limited series is Oscar nominee Scott Frank.
According to the Netflix synopsis, Beth Harmon grew up in an orphanage in Kentucky in the late 1950s and developed an “incredible talent for chess,” according to the Netflix synopsis.
However, at the orphanage, Beth also developed an addiction to sedatives to calm orphans and an obsession that would follow her into adulthood.
The smart and glamorous Beth is “haunted” but “determined to break through the traditional boundaries of the male-dominated world of competitive chess”.
Who is the cast of The Queen’s Gambit?
In addition to Anya Taylor-Joy (EMMA., Split) as Beth Harmon, the cast also includes such characters as Game of Thrones star Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Marielle Heller, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling, and Bill Lager.
