Ben Is Alive Or Not?
The season 2 ended on a cliffhanger for the entire team of the Umbrella Academy. After them returning to their present following their failure to save the world from an apocalypse. They were astounded to see their father Reginald Hargreeves alive and his another superhero team, The Sparrow Academy consisting of those 43 super-powered children born to women with no signs of pregnancy a day before and Ben, which the team assumed to be dead, alive, and as the leader of The Sparrow Academy. Fans weren’t able to make sense about Ben’s untimely death long before in season 1 of which the reason is still unknown. Blackman told Inverse, “I love Justin and I love the character of Ben, and we have really grown that character out to become bigger than the graphic novel. He’s a fan favorite. And thus the show makers couldn’t afford to lose Ben. However, this Ben wouldn’t that sweet Ben we saw at the beginning of the show as reported by Blackman.
When Reginald Hargreeves met the Umbrella Academy in 1963, he hated them all because of the fact that they were unable to save the world from apocalypse and thus he adopted another team of super-powered babies born and named the team as the Sparrow Academy and because of Ben’s superpowers it was hard for him to ignore them and so made him a part of the new academy.
These are one of the speculated theories about Ben being alive and a part of the Sparrow Academy. However, the true answers will be known to the fans only when season 3 will be aired on Netflix. Though it has not been renewed by the streaming service as yet as well as its release date is yet to be known by the fans who have been eagerly waiting for the finale.
