New adaptation of Roald Dahl’s famous book The Witches is coming to cinemas this year, directed by Robert Zemeckis and featuring Anne Hathaway as the Grand High Witch.
In light of the kids’ novel, The Witches is about a young man who stumbles a gathering of witches while remaining with his grandma at a hotel, and gets transformed into a mouse by the Grand High Witch. The young protagonist discovers that the witches have a sickening plan to transform kids into mice en masse, and should stop them before it’s too late. Unfortunately , it is difficult to stop so many evil witches when you’re only a couple of inches tall. In spite of the fact that the book is set in the English coastline town of Bournemouth, Zemeckis’ film will be set in the Gothic South. While the 1990 film was just a loose adaptation – which was disliked by Dahl as the ending contrasted from the book – the new imagining is expected to be more established in the original source material.
