Todd McFarlane ’s Spawn, also known as Spawn: The animated series is an American noir adult animated television series. The genre of the series includes adult animation, superhero, action, horror, suspense, fantasy, crime, thriller, mystery, supernatural, and science fiction. It is developed by Alan B. Mc Elroy and narrated by Richard Dysart. It was premiered on HBO from 1997 to 1999. Spawn character is based on Image Comics.
Todd McFarlane made an official announcement at Fan Expo Canada regarding his new project ‘Spawn’ Animated Series. He stated that he would be developing two new animated series related to the Spawn, one will be targeted for children and the other one for adults. In spite, of the adult tones of Spawn comics, it has been marketed at teenagers. Moreover, his feature film released at the same time and it was marketed with a softer PG-13 rating and highlighted the more mature elements of the character. McFarlane has also made a Spawn geared at kids The Adventures of Spawn, a 2008 webcomic spin-off that re-narrated the character and as an adventure book. This project will be veteran animator McFarlane’s directorial debut.
However, yet there has been no confirmed news regarding the working process of the film. The filming was expected to begin in early 2019 but seems to be delayed.
Anime fans are excited, as the news is confirmed that; McFarlane is making his long-awaited fighting game return as Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character. Keith David, one who was behind the voice of spawn in the original HBO animated series is making a comeback for the next Mortal Kombat game. These series would exist along with the planned spawn feature film.
The producing partner of the series is Blumhouse. The audio/visual effects will be developed by The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero and his company KNB EFX Group.
