The AAA announcement from the first Summer Game Fest developer showcase that took place on June 22 was mainly for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. We heard about the game after almost two decades since the last mutated Bandicoot.
According to the leaks from a Taiwanese rating board revealed about the existence of the game before the official reveal took place. However, the official announcement has much more interesting information related to the details of the Crash Bandicoot4: It’s About Time.
Release Date of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
During the official reveal on 22nd June, it was confirmed that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be launched on 2nd October, 2020.
This platformer will be launched before the launch of the next-gen consoles which are planned to take place in Holiday 2020, and other games such as Star Wars: Squadrons and Dirt 5.
Is there any trailer ?
Yes! There is an announcement trailer of 91 seconds that showcases some gameplay that is familiar and resembles some of the classic games. However, there is a lot of new powers and mechanics to make the game a bit more spicy, consisting of some new worlds to travel to and some new characters to encounter.
Who is the developer ?
Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy was developed by Vicarious Visions, however, that studio is not developing Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time as it is currently working on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. So Crash Bandicoot4: It’s About Time is being developed by Toys For Bob instead.
Toys For Bob has worked previously on games such as Star Control and Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and the most recent work by the developer is Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This studio is handling a Crash Bandicoot game for the very first time. As we can see that the studio has shown a remarkable performance in Spyro, it can be assured that Crash Bandicoot4 is in safe hands.
Is Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time n exclusive for PS4?
You might be familiar with the fact the previous games of Crash Bandicoot were PlayStation exclusives, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Will not be a PS4 exclusive at launch. This game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One at the launch on October.
However, the Crash Bandicoot4: It’s About Time version for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia have not been confirmed till now. Also, there is a possibility that this game will be ported to other platforms in the future.
Story behind Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be continuing the story of Crash Bandicoot: Wrapped. Crash and Coco will have to prevent Neo Cortex to mess up with the fabric of the multiverse. During their adventure they will have to travel multiple world and universes in order to collect for Quantum Masks which will give them new power and will help to restore the balance of the multiverse.
The overall story seems to be more light-hearted that some of the previous games of Crash.
The gameplay of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time seems to the same as it was established by N. Sane Trilogy. The levels will be more elaborate. The game is a standard mix of 2D and 3D linear platforming, which will be featuring some new power-ups which will let Crash and Coco to run on the walls, slow down the time and manipulate the properties of gravity.
As said by the developers, the players will be allowed to switch between Crash and Coco anytime they want to in the game. They also confirmed that some of the levels make other characters like Neo Cortex playable which have very distinct move sets. The levels seem to be a bit more dynamic.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be released on October 2, 2020 and will be playable on PS4 and Xbox One.
