Sashidhar Jagdishan will be the new CEO of HDFC Bank

Sashidhar Jagdishan, 55 years in age is appointed as the new MD and CEO of the HDFC Bank. He will succeed Aditya puri, who will retire on 27th October 2020. Sashidhar Jagdishan has been working with the bank for a long time since 1996 and is a group head for several functions.

He was appointed as the “ Change agent” in 2019. Also, he was the bank, chief financial officer, for over a decade. On 4th August 2020( Tuesday), HDFC bank told in a statement that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had approved the appointment of Jagdishan for three years from the date of his handling over the charge in October this year.

The bank’s board of council will hold a meeting to approve this appointment soon.

What does he say?

Sashidhar Jagdishan said in one of his statements that he will leave no stone unturned to carry forward the rich legacy followed up by the Aditya Puri. He will work harder with the support of his colleagues, the board members, other stakeholders, and with God’s grace. The bank recommended two names for the post of the CEO. One was Sashidhar Jagdishan and the other was Kaizad Bharucha, who is already an executive director on the board of the bank.

The external candidate was Sunil Garg. But Sashidhar Jagdishan was the First choice of Aditya Puri. They both are working together far before Jagdishan became the change agent. Puri reacted to this recommendation by giving his choice out. He tells that he is very delightful as the bank is in the safe hands of an experienced person who is working with him for the past twenty-four years.

According to Aditya Puri, Sashidhar Jagdishan is humane, a caring a very motivational person and the best part is that everyone in the bank loves and admires him.
