Spanish PM says UK Quarantine restrictions are unjust. The UK government has taken a decision to put a 14-day quarantine on everyone arriving from Spain is “unfair”, Spain ‘s prime minister has said.

What does the Spanish PM say?

Pedro Sánchez (Spanish PM) said tourists in the Spanish regions are safer from corona-virus than in the UK. He is also hoping that the UK would review its decision.

In the context of that UK government said there is no chance for changing the plans and their order to restore the quarantine measures with advice that “no travel is risk-free during this pandemic”. In an interview, Mr. Sánchez tell that his officials are talking with British authorities to try to make them review their decision.

The UK has made an “error” by because of the infection rate for the whole country, he said. He also said that “64.5% of the new cases have been registered are in two territories” and most of them are in Spain.

The rate of corona-virus infection in Spain is 35.1 cases per 100,000 people. While in the UK, it is at 14.7. This data is from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

“Why the Canaries – which are further away from Barcelona than Barcelona is the UK – are on the list as well as mainland Spain, I simply don’t understand,” said Labor MP Chris Bryant, who chairs the all-party parliamentary group for Spain.

He also stated that ” there are many parts of Spain that have much lower infection rates as compare to many areas in the UK. I think that this is very badly handled the situation with UK Quarantine restrictions.”

The epidemic stays under control in many parts of Spain, certain areas – in particular Catalonia in the north-east. The neighboring region of Aragón has a large number of increase in corona infections.
