Turkmenistan has been granted Observer status by the World Trade Organization

The successful conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) is held at WTO headquarters located in Geneva of the Swiss Confederation, during which the application of Turkmenistan on joining the WTO as an observer is noted.

The Turkmen side is represented at the conference by a Turkmenistan man at the United Nations in Geneva. The candidate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan who takes part through video Conference.

Turkmenistan is accepting for Observer status by the World Trade Organization (WTO) General Council. Turkmenistan is now become the last former Soviet republic to establish some formal identity with the trade body. The Central Asian country file a request for Observer status in May and express desire to give rise to the talks on joining the WTO in 5 years.

While Uzbekistan is in an on-and-off debate on WTO gain since 1994. It also improves its position concerning foreign trade. It will attract foreign investments and improve international trade relations. This will also deal with the development of commercial and trade statistics including their good performance. By reaching this point by Turkmenistan will add to the development of the national economy of the nation.

After the conference, the member of the WTO General Council has accepted the decision of giving Turkmenistan the status of an observer in WTO.

WTO has 164 members. 24 countries already have the status of an observer. Turkmenistan is the 25th country with an image of an observer.
