As we know, the pandemic of coronavirus has resulted in many cancellations and postponing of the events. Now another event has been added to the list. Unfortunately, BlizzCon 2020 has been canceled. But, it is said that the event will be returning next year. However, this one will be quite different from the usual one.
Blizzard has announced that it will be hosting all the virtual versions of its annual fan expo, BlizzCon. It is said that BlizzCon will be conducted in early 2021. This announcement has been made because of the current situation because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Saralyn Smith, the executive producer of BlizzCon suggested that there are possible chances that the event will be conducted in an online form next year.
The announcement of the new format and timing was made during a recent Activision Blizzard earnings call and was reported by GamesIndustry.biz. the president of the Studio confirmed that the event will be conducted in early 2021.
Well, in the near year, Blizzard was looking forward to increasing the virtual contents of BlizzCon, and therefore, they were selling tickets to the home viewers. Therefore, now Blizzard will have to conduct a successful online event that will be making use of the virtual tickets. They will be providing live streaming access to the panels, esports competition, and the cosplay contest. Also, the opening ceremonies will be hosted for free of cost for everyone.
What will be the form of BlizzCon is still not known. The games that will be showcased during Blizzard are quite obvious. The previous year, the event announced Overwatch and Diablo IV. However, Brack did not say anything about what will be shown in the event.
