Kolkata: Nearly 210 local trains will run daily during office hours in Kolkata. Further, no unnecessary gatherings will be allowed at platforms. Railway officials said that the standard operating procedures will be announced on Thursday.

Meeting with officials of state government and eastern and southern railways :

On Wednesday, in Nabanna a meeting was held between the officials of state government and Eastern and Southern Railways. The meeting saw the discussion about reopening of suburban rail services in Kolkata. In the meeting, it was decided that 210 local trains will be in service daily. The trains will run during office hours that are during morning and evening time. However, the rest of the day, a limited number of trains will run.

Further, it was said that the local trains will not stop at every station. The sources have revealed that these galloping trains will stop only at big and important stations.

Final schedule and other details to be announced on Thursday:

The final schedule will most probably be released on Thursday. Also, it was decided that people will not be allowed to stand in local trains. While inside the trains, there will be no hawkers. Also, at the platforms and stations, the unnecessary gathering will not be allowed.

One of the railway officials revealed,  “The standard operating procedure was finalised and will be announced on Thursday. In every bogey, one or two Railway Police personnel will be present who will ensure that physical distancing is maintained.”

Both e-ticketing and physical ticketing to be made available:

Also, it was decided on Wednesday that even if e-ticketing is launched, physical ticketing will be continued as well.
