Bullet Train: The bid for the construction and design of 237 kilometres long mainline for high speed rail corridor from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was opened on Wednesday.

7 Mega industry players for bidding of India’s first bullet train project

Total of 7 mega industries including L&T (Larsen and Turbo), Tata Projects, NCC and JMC Projects have shown interest in the bidding for the construction of high sped corridor or bullet train project. The project name is Mumbai- Ahmedabad high speed rail (MAHSR).

From the starting of the bidding total of 3 bids are submitted- first one by L&T and other two by separate organization of companies. The first group consists of includes Afcons Infrastructure, IRCON International and JMC Projects and the second group includes NCC, Tata Projects and J. Kumar Infra Projects.

This tender will include 47% of total project

Total of 47% of the total project is covered in this tender which is between Vadodara and Vapi. This will include four stations – Vapi, Billimora, Surat and Bharuch including a river and 30 road crossings. The whole section of this tender is in Gujrat for which almost 83 percent of land has been obtained for the project.

This project will boost the employment sector and provide more than 90,000 jobs

This project will bring many jobs and opportunities to the people. As said by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) , this project will create more than 90,000 jobs including both direct and indirect. Many sectors including employment and manufacturing will benefit from this project.

This will be the first high-speed project in India which will cover total of 12 stations and is built with the help of Japanese technology. The bullet train is expected to operate at the speed of 320 km/hr at an elevated track all along the route except the 26 kilometres in Mumbai, where the track will be constructed underground.
