About 600 kg firecrackers seized in Delhi, Police have arrested 7 people


In Delhi, 600 kg firecrackers have been seized following which 7 individuals have been held.

On Sunday, officials revealed that about 600 kilograms of firecrackers were seized in the national capital. The firecrackers were being sold illegally for which Delhi police have arrested seven people.

Looking at the increasing number of covid cases along with the surge in air pollution in the capital, the Delhi government on Thursday decided to ban the firecrackers including the green crackers in Delhi. 

Police said that till Sunday, cases for illegal selling of firecrackers in the national capital were registered against seven people.

Anil Mittal, Additional PRO of Delhi Police said, “Police recovered 593.224 kg of firecrackers and arrested seven people. Also, eight cases were registered against the bursting of crackers and one person was arrested and 1 kg of fireworks recovered from him in this connection.”

Police revealed that about 593.224 kg of firecrackers have been recovered in the national capital And police have arrested seven people for illegally selling the firecrackers. Further, police said that eight cases were registered against bursting of crackers. Further, one person has also been arrested from whom about 1kg of fireworks has been recovered.

Covid cases are continuously increasing in Delhi. Nearly 7000 cases daily of corona disease are reported in the national capital. Besides, an increase in covid cases in Delhi, it’s the festive season. With Diwali on its way, covid cases may further increase if people compromise with the covid guidelines and protocols. Air Pollution is another problem Delhi has to deal with. Bad air affects the health of covid patients even more severely. Burning firecrackers will surely increase the air pollution resulting in more difficulty in breathing as well may invite other health problems.
