The Air India Express flights will resume to and from Dubai as per the original schedule with effective from September 19, the airline announced.
The airline made a public announcement on its Facebook page after few hours when its Dubai flights were rescheduled to Sharjah due to 15 days suspension for Dubai flights by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
On Friday, The airline confirmed that the Five flights that were supposed to operate from Dubai international airport rescheduled to Sharjah International Airport following the 15-day suspension order for Dubai operations.
The temporary suspension order for flight operations come on September 18 by Dubai authorities as the airline’s ground handling agents allowed two passengers with COVID-19 positive test results to travel into the flights coming to Dubai. Two different passengers on different dates. One from Delhi and another from Jaipur.
The flights were rescheduled to Sharjah were to Kozhikode (Calicut), Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kannur, the airline said.
The Calicut flight was rescheduled from 10:30 am to 1:15 pm and the Kannur flight was postponed from 7:55 pm to 11:55 pm. However, there was no change in the other three flights departure time. The other three flights are scheduled to depart at 2.30 pm, 4.30 pm, 6.30 pm.
Affected passengers were given options
An official explained that the passengers who originally booked to fly to Dubai were being accommodated in the additional flights to Sharjah. The affected passengers were also given the option to rebook for a future date.
Also, the airline official informed that the airline has opened its offices in Dubai and Sharjah and instructed a team at Dubai international airport to facilitate the travel of the affected passengers due to the reschedule flights.
Earlier, in the day, the airline officials said that they repeated the instructions to all the employees and staff members and handling agencies in India to strictly follow the rules and SOP in relation to the acceptance of passengers on its flights.
Necessary action has been taken against the employees who were responsible for such lapse in Delhi and Jaipur and accepted the Coronavirus positive passengers in the airport.
