Bengaluru Unlock 4 Day 1: When pubs are allowed to operate from September 1, people were initially excited to go out and party. But on Tuesday, pubs start to functions, the initial excitement doesn’t last for a long time and many people were seen outside the pubs. Also, the fewer pubs were open on the first day of Unlock phase 4.As per the MHA guidelines of Unlock 4.0, pubs in the city are allowed to operate with 50 percent occupancy.

However, Prashant Kunal, founder of The Bier Library, is joyous over the turnover on Day 1. He said, We have a lot of open space and people have started preferring that place which has natural air and ventilation over the air conditioner places. It is exciting to see, especially young people, who turn up to enjoy beer and food on a weekday. He further added that it is quite easy to attract crowds with fresh brews.

Kuncheria Marant, co-founder, URU Brewpark said that they were open from the last one and a half months for serving food and now they have added alcohol to the menu from Tuesday onwards. He said that they have launched four beer variants to celebrate the opening. He added that as URU is off to a good start they see almost 100 people by 5 pm. Also, as it is an open place, they will ensure that there is much distance between six to eight feet between the chairs and people will not hesitate to visit them with their families.

Meanwhile, Chethan Hegde, founder of 1522, which has many outlets across Bengaluru, said that the market is not giving appropriate turnover on Tuesday. According to him, The outlet close to Koramangala, HSR, and Sarjapur is getting a lower turnover as many people in that area are working from home. But the good news is that many people are calling for inquiries as not all the pubs are opened now.

He added that they haven’t modified anything in the menu, in terms of pricing. But as the liquor prices have gone up by 18-45 percent, depending on the brand. So they have to do some changes to the menu according to the liquor prices.

As some of the pubs started operating on Tuesday. Most of the pubs are still shut in Bengaluru such as The Pump House, Levitate and Watson’s haven’t opened yet, Owners have said that they are going to reopen pubs from this weekend.
