Bihar Elections 2020: The body which is responsible for conducting elections, that is Election Commission declared on Friday the dates. The elections for the Legislative Assembly of Bihar will be held on twenty eight October. The elections will be conducted in a total of three stages. The votes will be counted in the next month, that is November on tenth.
Seventy-one seats will be sent to poll during the first phase. These seats will be spread in a total of sixteen districts and the Assembly constituencies will be ninety four in number during the second phase of elections.
And then in the final phase, that is the third stage seventy eight constituencies will be sent to poll in fifteen districts. This arrangement has been done in keeping mind the current situation of coronavirus.
It is the first time during the pandemic, that an election is being conducted. The polling booths have also increased in number, to ensure more social distancing. And as we know that population of Bihar is in crores so this was very much needed.
The timing for casting vote has also been increased by an hour. People can now cast their votes from seven in the morning to six in the evening. Earlier the timing was limited to five in the evening only.
The election commission has also ensured that every booth has sanitizer, and the voter has to wear a mask. PPE kits have also been kept. So sanitation has been kept in mind, and voters are also encouraged to wear gloves.
The elections were held in 2015, that is five years ago before this. The election commissioner, Sunil Arora talked about these guidelines. He also shared the details about the three phases in which the election is being held. The maximum number of voters at a polling booth has been reduced to 1000 now.
