China says border standoff is bilateral issue, criticises Mike Pompeo’s remarks

On Wednesday, Chinese embassy issued a statement saying that the border issue in eastern Ladakh at LAC (line of actual control) is bilateral issue of China and  India and there’s no place for the 3rd party to intervene in the subject .

Chinese embassy conveyed their firm opposition to the remarks made by US officials

US Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State issued a joint statement on Tuesday after the meeting with the Indian counterparts for 2 + 2 diplomatic meet of India and US saying that Washington is always standing side by side of New Delhi against the threats post by Chinese Communist party to protect the country’s sovereignty and Liberty at LAC in eastern Ladakh. The Chinese embassy conveyed it’s firm opposition to the remarks made by US Secretary of Defense in the joint statement made after 2 + 2 meeting with Indian counterparts alleging the US officials of repeating old lies, attacking and making allegations against Chinese Communist party and also violating the international norms of relations and basic principles of diplomacy. They also added that US try to instigate China’s relations with other countries in South Pacific region.

The Chinese embassy in its statement also added that US has once again exposed their Cold War mentality and ideological bias. However, The Chinese embassy did not directly criticise India in any way by their statement. Indian external affairs minister and defense minister didn’t mention China in their remarks during the media interaction after the 2 + 2 meeting. US Secretary of Defense remarks were based on the backdrop of the India China military standoff in Ladakh region which is continuing since May this year. Both the countries India and China have deployed more than 50,000 troops at each friction point along LAC line of actual control and the forces are expected to be remain deployed at the border during the harsh winter.
