A group was celebrating a birthday on the road near an ATM in Sarita Vihar. A Delhi police constable tried to stop them from fleeing. However, he was allegedly run over by a BMW car.
As the police revealed, the incident took place on Tuesday at midnight. Constable Jitender has been severely injured on his legs. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. Kuldeep Bidhuri, 28, has been arrested by the police. The errant driver runs a gym in Madanpur Khadar.
Constable runs over by a BMW car, accused arrested.
RP Meena, DCP, southeast said, “Constable Ankur saved himself but the accused ran over constable Jitender, crushing his legs, and fled from the spot. Other policemen in the ERV chased them. The BMW car rammed into a juice shop near Umer Masjid, after which the accused left the car and escaped.”
Police revealed that constable Jitender and Ct Ankur were on their bike doing their patrolling duty. At 12.05 am they saw a few men standing outside the ATM. They were cutting the cake and were loud. An officer said that when the constables asked them to leave, they started to argue. Following which the police called the ERV(Emergency Response Vehicle) to detain men. However, they drove towards Madanpur Khadar and the police chased the car while signalling them to stop. However, they allegedly drive towards the constable.
Police also stated that in its way BMW hit another person who was sleeping at a stall. When the car was checked, police found beer bottles inside the car.
After the investigation was done, the car was found to be registered in the name of Amit Bhadana. The case has been registered under section if road traffic accident and attempt to murder.
