Dr VK Paul said that hospitals in Delhi should prepare for 1500 daily cases in the winter season as there will be a spike in respiratory illness along with covid 19 cases. Satyendar Jain referred to this report of a high-level expert committee that was led by NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul.
The committee stated three reasons for the surge in cases in winters. Firstly, winter months make respiratory illnesses severe and secondly, patients may come from outside Delhi in huge numbers. Thirdly, patients from distant areas might be more serious. Also with the upcoming festival season, there can be a sudden rise in the number of cases.
