What do these reinfection cases mean?

According to the health experts, all the reinfection cases recorded to date, the patients did not have enough antibodies to fight against the coronavirus infection. Health officials also informed said that there is very little information known about the CoV-2 virus & a larger part is still hidden inside the blanket.

Also, in the reinfection cases recorded to date, the patients got infected from the different strains of coronavirus and not from viral shedding from the previous or earlier infection. Hong Kong researchers further say that reinfection is a common trend for COVID-19 disease.

Effect of reinfection on the upcoming vaccines

The vaccine candidates currently under development are designing the vaccine in such a way that will not only help in developing immunity against the virus, but they may also help in lessening the severity of the disease, in case of reinfection. The vaccines which are being developed by different candidates will provide a better and stronger immunity against the temporary immunity developed by contracting the infection.
