CR Park and other areas in south Delhi will not host Durga Puja pandals this year, says AAP MLA
Chittaranjan Park and its adjoining areas in South Delhi host merely 50 Durga Puja pandals every year. However this year it won’t happen and the reason is the ongoing covid 19 pandemic. The announcement was done by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj on Monday.
The AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said that most of the population of CR park and members of the Puja committee are elderly people and hence it is important for them to stay indoors. They should avoid contacts with unknown people in pandals to ensure their safety. And hence the decision is made.
The decision was made on Maday in a meeting where the various puja committees were present. Besides, the area’s SDM( sub-divisional magistrate ), police personnel and representatives of SDMC( South Delhi municipal corporation) were also present.
AAP(Aam Aadmi Party) leader and area’s MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said,” I convened a meeting today, which was attended by representatives of around 12 Durga Puja committees from Chittaranjan Park, GK2, GK1, Alaknanda and Kalkaji, apart from officers from various enforcement agencies. It has been unanimously decided that Durga Puja celebrations will be suspended this year due to the pandemic.”
