Delhi Police arrests 5: On Tuesday, Delhi Police arrested five people who ran a cheating racket and cheated job aspirants. The police arrested 5 people along with the mastermind of the group namely Sajid Ali Sajid, police said.
The group of 5 cheaters duped job aspirants by offering employment at the Delhi airport. This racket busted on a complaint filed by Deepak Kumar.
Deepak Kumar is a job seeker who filed a complaint of being cheated by the group. Deepak was duped of nearly 4.47 lakhs in the name of providing a job in the Airports Authority of India (AAI), insurance, and income tax.
On July 11 in 2019, Deepak Kumar had seen an advertisement about this job on a social networking site. The group of the cheaters fooled him and tricked him to pay Rs. 4.47 lakhs in the name of the job. The entire money was transferred in four different accounts and after the full payment, the cheaters switched off their mobile phones. Moreover, to convince Deepak, the fraudsters even sent him an appointment letter of AAI.
After being fooled by the cheaters Deepak filed a complaint in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district.
What did the Police do?
After his complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was taken up followed by some arrests, said Deputy commissioner of police (IGI Airport) Rajeev Ranjan.
During the investigation, as informed by DCP Ranjan, the investigating team collected and analyzed phone numbers and bank accounts details which were used by the suspects of the crime.
This investigation led the team to Shahzad a 40-year-old account holder who was arrested and interrogated. During the interrogation, Shahzad said that he provided his account details to one of the cheats namely Sanjay Sharma, and in return, he was paid Rs. 5,000.
When the further investigation was done, Sanjay Sharma said he had shared Shahzad’s bank account details with Pawan Gupta, who was working for the gang’s mastermind, Sajid Ali Sajid.
Along with Sajid Ali Sajid his key associate Sumit Upadhyaya was also arrested, who worked as a web designer.
The arrested group of cheaters finally accepted their crime of cheating job seekers on social media through advertisements.
