New Delhi: For the second consecutive day, Delhi logged more than 5000 new patients of Covid disease. Undoubtedly, the covid cases graph in the national capital has remained on a relentless climb. Delhi registered 5739 fresh cases in the last 24 hours and for the second consecutive day, Delhi logged more than 5000 new patients of the disease.

Delhi registered 5739 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the barrier of 5000 breached for the first time

Yesterday, the number of cases increased to 5673 and for the first time since the outbreak, the barrier of 5000 breached. And before that, there were about 4000 cases per day for two days.

Today a meeting was held by the Union Health Secretary with the Health Secretary of the capital over the spike in cases of ongoing covid 19 pandemic. The spike in covid cases as told by the Delhi government to the centre is due to the social gatherings during festival seasons, deterioration of air quality, more incidences of respiratory disorders and more positive cases at the workplace

The centre has asked the Delhi government to focus on more number of RT-PCR tests and contact tracing. Also, it is important that the traced contacts should be isolated within the first 72l hours. After yesterday’s rise in covid cases, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that it is too early to say that Delhi Is seeing the third wave of covid. 

Mr Jain said, “We should wait and observe the trend for a week. We will not be able to say anything in definite terms till then. It is too early to call it the third wave just yet. But, it might be a possibility.”
